The international airport in Venezuela will accept bitcoin payment for tickets to flights

Simon Bolivar International Airport, Venezuela, also called Maiquetia is planning to let passengers buy airline tickets through digital sources. According to a report from the past.

Bitcoin can make you fly!

Local media reported the news that Maiquetia International Airport may soon join the cryptocurrency race by allowing passengers to pay for their tickets as well as other services with Bitcoin, Dash, and Petro which is a digital asset created through the Venezuelan government. Freddy Borges – Airport Director stated that Sunacrip – the country’s crypto surveillance agency – will be in charge of the effort:

“We will be activating the button to make payments using crypto on airport platforms and commercial activities, in collaboration together with Sunacrip”.

Recently, Russian and European tourists have traveled to the most popular tourist destinations in Venezuela. Borges stated that following the move, travelers will be able to visit more in this South American nation and thus boost the economy. The initiative will also improve the standards internationally set by Maiquetia airport:

“Just like the Russian passengers have arrived in Margarita and will get to La Guaira, through Conviasa and we have to advance with this modern technology and economic systems that are accessible.”

Maiquetia International Airport is the largest airport in Venezuela and the principal airport that connects the country. The airport is located to the northwest of the capital Caracas It handles international and domestic flights.

Cryptocurrency adoption in Venezuela

The nation of the dictatorship is averse to the decentralized nature in the use of technology. At first sight, it appears like these two countries wouldn’t be an ideal combination, but it’s not the scenario in Venezuela.

The country’s financial troubles including hyperinflation and the plight of the poor, have resulted in an increasing interest in cryptocurrency and digital currencies in the populace. So, it’s no surprise it is that this Latin American country is one of the top countries in the world of cryptocurrency adoption.

In the past, Burger King Venezuela allowed Caracas customers to pay for their accounts using some of the most popular cryptocurrency including Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum, Binance Coin, Dash, and Tether.

Then, a few months later another well-known restaurant chain Pizza Hut, allowed customers to pay for their food using the following digital currencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash, Litecoin, Binance Coin, and many more. This offer is now accessible in every Pizza Hut location in Caracas, Maracay, Maracaibo, and Barquisimeto.

We can bet that eventually, what occurred to El Salvador will happen in this South American country too? We’re looking forward to more developments, and we’re looking forward to the latest cryptocurrency boom while we wait. Do you know how to buy Bitcoins? Tell us in the comments below.
